Corino 2016 Barolo "Giacchini"
The 2016 Barolo Giachini cru from Giovanni Corino has a perfect equilibrium between elegance and power. The soil, rich in clay and limestone, (typical also of its neighboring cru, Arborina), helps to create a bouquet with intense aromas and finesse; it creates a wine that is unexpectedly open from a young age yet enriches with austerity and complexity with time. The slow maceration in barrique, 50% of which are new, helps integrate into the wines notes of redberries, violet, and creates a softness which is as persistent as it is pleasing. A beautiful modern barolo and an exceptional vintage to drink now or cellar for up to 20-25 years.
