2016 Corino Barolo di Commune della Morra
The quality of this exquisite Barolo far exceeds the price and is a perfect demonstration of the softness found in Barolos from La Morra as well as Giualiano Corino's ability to manage tannin with elegance and precision. On the nose, you'll find delicate aromas of red cherry, liquorice, and a hint of smokiness. On the palate, notes of raspberry jam, mushroom and tar. Medium bodied with lifted aromatics and bright fruit which is bound to delight.
"This is a very pretty set of Barolos from Giuliano Corino. The 2016s are fleshy and enticing wines that capture all of the sensuality of La Morra. Corino gave his 2016s six days on the skins in rotary fermenters. Malolactic fermentation was done in tank. The wines were then barreled down in mid-November, and spent two years in oak, with no racking, before they were blended and moved into tank in preparation for bottling. Harvest took place between October 1 and 13, on the later side by present-day standards."
