2019 Cantine Borga Refosco
Ruby red wine with violet hues, structured and tannic, it is fruity on the nose with notes of raspberry and blackberry.
Refosco remains a varietal little known or enjoyed outside of the northern region of Italy. Rich in both tannin and acidity, the dark-skinned Refosco produces sturdy wines with red berry and currant flavors. The wines are most expressive when paired with poultry or game and will generally benefit from a bit of cellaring. This wine can age well, and after a period of up to 10 years.
Believed to be main varietal of the old Roman wine, Puccinum, which was most often used for medicinal purposes, the Refosco varietal is one of the oldest in all of Italy according to our Refosco Wine Reviews.
