2016 Indigenous Sangiovese "Rosso Toscano"
Intense ruby red color. Aromas of wild cherry, black currant and sweet plum. On the palate, this wine offers silky tannins and a fruity chewy finish as well as lots of cherry with elegant richness. A great value wine, especially if you compare the quality to most Chiantis on the market toady.
The Wine: 100% Sangiovese grown in calcareous soils at an average altitude of 250m. Alcoholic fermentation for 7-8 days at controlled temperature, malolactic fermentation in oak. Aged in medium-toasted French oak for 9 months, then transferred to stainless-steel vats for 2 months before bottling unfined/unfiltered
What's behind the Indigenous Label: The concept is simple, real wines made from some of Italy’s most interesting and extraordinary local grape varieties. These wines remain faithful to the philosophy we embrace for all our wines -- quality over quantity, always and without exceptions. The wines are personally selected by Giorgio Rivetti and the producers are small, family-owned vineyards with an expression of genuine character and terroir. This combination ensures that the wines convey their own identity and sense of place, using the same principles in the vineyards and cellars as all Indigenous labels do: no chemicals, no herbicides, no pesticides- ever.
